What are you really hungry for?

What are you really hungry for?

How often do we lash out when we are physically hungry?

Hangry? Overwhelmed? Exhausted?

If you think about it, was it ever really the other person’s fault who you laid into when you were mad? Probably not. Or rarely, if ever.

It’s our layers. It’s our hurt. It’s our pain that responds with anger.

The other day the topic of anger came up in a conversation and that person said to me, “I’ve seen you try to control your anger.” And it got me thinking…

Do I control my anger?

I’m not sure.

I’ve certainly unleashed my fury on my family when all of those easier culprits were at play - being hungry, tired, not having enough quiet, nourishing time by myself.

But the bigger, tougher, not-so-obvious anger culprits are much harder to determine. I think it’s more of a dissecting of my anger. When I get mad, I begin to look inward for the source.

Anger is actually just really hurt feelings that are using anger to protect the injury.

The greater the anger, the greater the hurt.

The greater the hurt, the greater the vulnerability within us.

The greater the vulnerability, the greater our response.

It’s a vicious cycle.

We all have moments of being hangry, overtired and overwhelmed when we lose our temper. Those are the easy finds in anger dissection. What’s behind those constant resentments? What’s behind those long-term grudges? Can you find the hurt there? Can you find the source of the pain? The original hurt may have been a long time ago, but the injury keeps getting triggered and hurts us, angers us and lowers our energy and overall health.

Once you locate and recognize that original hurt, you can reveal it and heal it. Then, guess what happens? That hurt stops bringing in situations to help stop trying to heal it. Those hurts will continue to bring in opportunities for you to heal them over and over and over again until they’re healed.

Ever noticed the same situation continues to present itself? Same problem, different faces?

That’s deep hurt that is trying to mend itself. It will continue to give you the opportunity to heal itself until it’s healed. So how do we figure out what is hurting us?

Here is a 3-week opportunity for you to find and heal your hurts. Yes, it’s that time of year again! My favorite time of year!

Oprah and Deepak started their free 3-week meditation journey on Monday. It’s not too late to sign up. You have five days to listen to each meditation. So you will still have three days left to listen to Monday's mediation.

When you are nourished spiritually, your food cravings end, your body shifts, and your anger settles.

Please join me in feeding your soul and helping to stave off the anger as you nourish and heal on this beautiful 3-week meditation journey. We can dissect and heal our hearts together.

Much love,

Erin
